Courtney Wright, MBA
Director of the Business Communication Center

Courtney is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Management & Corporate Communication and Director of the Business Communication Center (BCC). In addition to running the BCC, she teaches in the MBA, EMBA-Evening, Master of Accounting and MBA@UNC programs; she also regularly provides presentation skills coaching in Kenan-Flagler’s Executive Education programs. A double Alumna of UNC, Courtney graduated with a BA in Psychology. After working in the legal field and software industry for several years, she returned to UNC to pursue her MBA, where she concentrated in Marketing and Sustainable Enterprise. She also holds a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language from Duke University and completed Authentic Leadership Coach training through Raleigh Coaching Academy. She’s also passionate about constructive dialogue and teaching people how to have hard conversations about contentious issues. She recently participated in the Aspen Institute’s Better Arguments Project Ambassador Program and is Co-Chair of Heterodox Academy’s Campus Community at UNC: Heterodox Heels. Outside of school/work, Courtney loves skiing, mountain biking, hiking, weightlifting (really, anything active!), traveling with her husband and 3 children, and cooking diverse cuisines. She’s also a self-professed coffee snob and perpetually in search of the perfectly brewed cup of coffee!

Aarushi is orignially from Mumbai, India and graduated from NMIMS university in 2018 with a degree in Economics and Finance. Prior to Kenan-Flagler, she worked as an investment associate at a leading life insurance comapny in India doing portfolio management and equity quant research followed by a stint in venture capital working at a boutique investment firm that invested in early stage startups. This summer, Aarushi interned at McKinsey & Co in Charlotte. In her free time, she enjoys exploring new places and food, both at the same time preferably, reading and working out.

Emme is originally from Thousand Oaks, CA California. She graduated from the University of Toronto in 2019 with a degree in Marketing and Economics. Prior to Kenan-Flagler, Emme spent 3 years working at Nielsen where she worked with advertising agencies, advertisers and publishers to help measure their digital content and target online audiences. Emme is concentrating in Marketing and Entrepreneurship and spent the summer working as an Associate Brand Manager intern at Conagra Foods.

Elizabeth is originally from Charlotte, NC and graduated from Wofford College in 2018 with a degree in Spanish and Business-Economics. Prior to Kenan-Flagler, she spent four years in Washington D.C. working as a client service associate for Brown Advisory, an independent investment management and strategic advisory firm. She is currently concentrating in Real Estate at KFBS and spent the summer working as an investments associate with Greystar in Charleston, SC. In her free time, “Beecy” enjoys spending time at her family’s beach house in DeBordieu, traveling, and finding any excuse to make a charcuterie board.

Brett is from Buffalo, NY (Go Bills!) and graduated with a Physics degree from SUNY College at Buffalo. Prior to Kenan-Flagler, he spent five years in software development and product management. He also served and bartended at a casual fine-dining restaurant for the seven years leading up to business school. Brett interned in Atlanta at Bain & Company and will be returning upon graduation. In his free time, Brett enjoys playing soccer, basketball, and board games with friends and family.

Connor is from Greensboro, North Carolina, and received his BSBA from UNC in 2018. He began his professional career in Singapore, working in regional consulting roles over 4 years for CBRE Asia Pacific. This summer, Connor interned with Teneo in New York City. Connor was involved in multiple clubs in his first year, participated in DCC and VCIC, and was a STAR Project Leader. This year, he is a STAR Ambassador and holds leadership positions with Consulting Club, Net Impact Club, EVC Club, and Carolina Disability Alliance. He will also be participating in the VC Angel Intern Program. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, advocating for unbiased news sources, learning Bahasa Melayu, and spending time with his wife (and classmate!).

Alex graduated from Denison University in 2012 with degrees in Psychology and Communication. Prior to coming to Kenan-Flagler, he spent a decade working in education. He began as a Teach for America math teacher and worked his way to become a principal of Middle Schools and High Schools in Las Vegas, NV and Harlem, NY. He is currently concentrating in Consulting and Managing People and Organizations. This summer he worked at Lowe’s Home Improvement in their Enterprise Strategy team. In his free time, he enjoys watching football with friends, serving as the MBASA VP of Social Events, cooking, and creating immaculate memes.

Abheek is an international student from India, with a Bachelors in Mathematics. Prior to KFBS, he spent over 7 years working at PwC/Strategy& as a management consultant and has worked in the areas of growth, go-to-market strategy, and digital sales transformation. He is currently concentrating in consulting at KFBS and worked at Alvarez & Marsal Consumer Retail Group (CRG) over the summer in NY. At KFBS he served as the STAR Project Leader, consulting a global speciality chemicals company. In his free time, he is an avid fan of Ken Burns documentaries, a budding mixologist, and a calisthenics novice.

Megha is an international student from India, with a Bachelor of Science, Mathematics Honors degree. She has more than 5 years of experience working in internal strategy, service operations and business development in diverse setups ranging from early stage and fast-growing startups to multinational corporations like Gartner. At UNC, she is concentrating in Consulting and Business Analytics & Management Science. This past summer, she worked on a tech sales process redesign project as a Summer Senior Consultant intern at EY in the Business Transformation practice in Atlanta. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, sketching caricatures and binge watching shows.

Farisha is originally from Singapore and graduated from the National University of Singapore with a BA in Global Studies and minor in Policy. While in school, she signed with a music record label and actively contributed to the Singapore media industry for 8 years. Professionally, she has worked in market research and most recently in public policy, where she developed executive education programs at Asia’s top public policy school. This summer, Farisha interned at Haleon as a marketing and brand management intern. She is currently concentrating in Consulting, Marketing, and Sustainability. In her 2Y at KFBS, she is the President of Carolina Women in Business and a STAR ambassador. Her interests include women’s development, DE&I, music, soccer, and spending time with family.

Surabhi Jain

Surabhi is an international student from India with a Bachelors in Information Systems. Prior to her MBA, Surabhi worked as a Product Manager in Barclays for US consumer banking website and mobile apps serving customers to meet their personal finance needs. This past summer, Surabhi interned with Amazon Web Services as a PMT-External Services on product strategy and design. Her interests include cooking, hiking, podcasts, discussions over chai, and chilling with her classmates on Franklin street.

Oliver is originally from England but grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. He’s a “triple Tar Heel”, having graduated from the UNC School of Media and Journalism in 2017 and having worked as a Program Manager at UNC Global from 2020-2022. Prior to joining UNC Kenan-Flagler, Oliver also worked as a public relations consultant in London and taught English in Sapporo, Japan and Chiang Mai, Thailand. This past summer, Oliver interned with Walmart in the US Pricing Strategy team. His interests include learning Japanese, playing the drums, and pickleball.

Archit is originally from Chandigarh, India and trained as an Electronics and Communications Engineer. He did his first MBA in Strategic Marketing and Communications with specialization in Brand Management. His work experience spans across 6+ years in Omnicom Media Group, Nielsen, and PepsiCo Foods. He is majoring in Consulting, Marketing, and Technology and Innovation Management at UNC and in his free time, enjoys drawing Manga Art, cooking, travelling, reading, collecting currencies, and watching everything about Formula 1. This summer, Archit interned at The Kraft Heinz Company in Chicago.

Katie is originally from Lexington, KY and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2016 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Following graduation, she worked at a transportation technology company in Indianapolis in product management and strategy. Alongside her MBA, she is pursuing a Master of City and Regional Planning degree at UNC. Last summer, Katie interned at McKinsey & Company in Charlotte. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, trying new recipes, and traveling.

Bess is originally from Charlotte, NC and earned her undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from Davidson College. Prior to business school she worked for a waste management consulting firm doing data analytics, project management, and sustainability reporting. She came to UNC to pursue sustainable economics, with an interest in Real Estate stemming from her family business in development. She interned with Greystar under the Director of Sustainability over the summer. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, playing tennis, and avidly watching UNC / Davidson sports.

Abdur is an international student from Pakistan, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a 5-year career as a drilling consultant in the Oil & Gas sector across Pakistan and the Middle East. At Kenan-Flagler, Abdur is concentrating in Consulting, Technology & Innovation Management, and Operations as part of his MBA. During the summers, Abdur interned at EY Parthenon in Washington DC and serves as the VP of International Students at the Consulting Club. In his free time, he enjoys cricket, outdoor activities, and spending time with friends and family.

Emily is originally from Arlington, Virginia and graduated from University of Virginina in 2017 with a degree in Political Science. Prior to Kenan-Flagler, she spent four years in Washington D.C. working in public sector consulting at Booz Allen Hamilton. She is currently concentrating in Consulting at KFBS and is part of the Venture Capital club. She spent the summer working on retail pricing project at Boston Consulting Group, in Nashville, TN. In her free time, Emily enjoys spending time traveling, and learning to pickleball and golf.

Emma is from Charlotte, North Carolina, and graduated from Appalachian State University with a major in Journalism and a minor in English. After graduation, she worked in corporate communications in Charlotte before moving to Raleigh to pursue marketing and business development at a tech-focused advertising agency. On the side, she has been a freelance writer and has written about everything from startups to new restaurant openings to social justice. In business school, Emma has taken on a wide variety of roles including STAR Project Leader, Carolina Women in Business Finance EVP, and Iron Heels (KFBS’ triathlon club) EVP. This summer, she interned with Gartner Consulting in Arlington, VA.
